Built on Collaboration and Clarity
I discovered photography during military service in the late 1960s, shooting with a Pentax Spotmatic at bases in Turkey and beyond. What started as an enjoyable hobby became a calling. After graduating from “Brooks Institute of Photography” in Santa Barbara in 1974 and working at four commercial studios, I received the experience needed to establish Joe Robbins Photography in 1984.
After many years acquiring a vast amount of knowledge working for others I had the confidence necessary to master an array of specialties to include executive headshots, industrial equipment, architectural photography and lots of product work. I became that person who understood that professional photography starts with listening, not just showing up with a camera.
Experienced Creative Leader
A Lifetime Behind the Lens
With decades of experience in photography and visual education, our founder has built a career rooted in creativity, leadership, and technical expertise. After serving four years in the U.S. Army’s Army Security Agency, he graduated from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara in 1974 and later became a respected instructor, teaching photography and Photoshop at The Art Institute of Houston and Houston Community College. He has also led his own Photoshop workshops through LearnPhotoshop.net and contributed to the professional community as a past president and board member of the ASMP Houston chapter, while serving on advisory boards for photography and visual communications programs at several universities. A Houston resident since 1976, he continues to stay active in the industry while enjoying life as a proud father of two wonderful daughters and grandpa of six lively young grandkids. Since 2002, Joe has also been busy with his event photography business, providing photo booths and several other fun photography entertainment options for his clients.
