The Eagle Ford Shale, which spans South Texas roughly 150 to 250 miles southwest of Houston, sits somewhere between the two, accessible from Harris County but still requiring the kind of field preparation that urban commercial photographers aren’t equipped for.
What all three locations have in common is that they reward preparation. We need to be introduced to that person before the shoot, not on the morning of. Safety orientations, if required, need to be scheduled in advance, sometimes days in advance for major Ship Channel terminals or large upstream operations. If there are operational windows you need us to capture, such as a vessel docking, a flare stack in operation, or a drilling crew at a particular stage of work, those windows need to be identified and communicated early, because they cannot be recreated.
Equipment and wardrobe for on-camera subjects matter more than clients expect. Field crews in full PPE read differently on camera than executives in the office.
