Joe Robbins has been a professional photographer since 1974. We established Joe Robbins Photography in 1984, serving Houston and surrounding areas including Humble, Kingwood, Atascocita, and The Woodlands.
Joe’s not just someone who bought a camera and started a website. He graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography and taught photography and digital imaging at HCC and The Art Institute of Houston for 21 years. He knows the technical side—lighting, composition, how to make people comfortable—because he’s been doing this longer than most photographers have been alive.
Humble families and business professionals come to us because we listen first. We’ll ask what you’re using the photos for, what concerns you have, and what you want to avoid. Then we’ll make it happen without the drama.
You’ll start with a conversation—either by phone or email. We’ll ask about the type of portraits you need, where you’ll use them, and any specific concerns. If you’re worried about how you photograph or what to wear, that’s the time to mention it.
Then you’ll schedule your session. Depending on what you need, that might be at the studio or on location in Humble. For corporate headshots, we often come to your office. For family portraits, we’ll suggest locations with good natural light and backgrounds that won’t distract from the people.
During the shoot, we handle the technical stuff—lighting, angles, camera settings. Your job is just to show up and follow simple direction. We’ll guide you through poses that actually work, adjust things as needed, and make sure you’re comfortable. Most sessions run 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how many people are involved.

You get professional lighting and equipment—not smartphone cameras or consumer-grade gear. We use the same high-end technology we use for commercial clients, which means your images are sharp, properly exposed, and color-accurate.
For Humble business professionals, corporate headshots can be done at your office or at the studio. You’ll get images that work for your website, LinkedIn, conference materials, or internal communications. If you need headshots for your whole team, we can set up on-site and photograph everyone in one session.
Family portraits work differently. You’ll get guidance on locations around Humble that photograph well—parks, urban settings, or indoor studios depending on the season and your preference. We work with families who have young kids, extended family groups, or just couples. We’ve photographed enough families to know that someone’s always going to be distracted or uncomfortable, and we’ll work around it.
Maternity sessions and senior portraits are also available. The approach is the same—understand what you need, make you comfortable, and deliver images you’ll actually use.

Headshot sessions usually take 20 to 30 minutes. You’ll do a few different poses, maybe change shirts once, and that’s it. If we’re photographing multiple people for a company, plan on about 15 minutes per person once everything’s set up.
Family portrait sessions take longer—usually 45 minutes to an hour. That gives you time to do different groupings, move to a second location if needed, and deal with kids who need a break. The goal isn’t to rush through it, but it’s also not an all-day event.
Senior portraits and maternity sessions fall somewhere in between. You’ll have time to get multiple looks and locations without feeling rushed. We’ll give you a time estimate when you book based on what you’re planning. And if something runs over, that’s fine—the priority is getting images you’re happy with, not watching the clock.
Yes. Outdoor portraits work well in Humble, especially during spring and fall when the weather cooperates. There are several parks and locations around town that provide good backgrounds without looking too generic.
The advantage of outdoor photography is natural light, which tends to be more flattering than artificial lighting when done right. The disadvantage is weather—if it’s raining or 100 degrees, outdoor sessions get uncomfortable fast. We’ll suggest backup dates or indoor alternatives if the forecast looks bad.
For outdoor family portraits, late afternoon usually works best. The light is softer, and you’re not squinting into the sun. For business portraits, outdoor settings can work if you want a more casual, approachable look instead of the traditional studio headshot. Just know that outdoor images have a different feel—they’re less formal and won’t always work for corporate materials that need a consistent look across a whole team.
You’ll typically receive your edited images within one to two weeks. That timeline covers reviewing the shots, selecting the best ones, and doing the editing work to make sure everything looks right.
If you need images faster—say, for an upcoming conference or publication deadline—mention that upfront. Rush turnaround is usually possible for an additional fee, and you can often get images within a few days if necessary.
The editing process isn’t just running photos through a filter. We adjust exposure, color balance, and do retouching where needed. The goal is to make you look polished and professional without looking overly edited or fake. That takes time to do properly, which is why same-day delivery isn’t standard. But you’ll get your images in high-resolution digital formats that you can use however you need—print, web, social media, whatever.
A good portrait photographer makes you comfortable, understands lighting, and delivers images you’ll actually use. Those three things matter more than expensive equipment or a fancy website.
