We established Joe Robbins Photography in 1984 and have served businesses and individuals throughout Sheldon, TX and the greater Houston area ever since. Sheldon’s grown a lot in that time—from a quiet area northeast of downtown Houston to a thriving community with major companies like LyondellBasell, National Oilwell Varco, and FMC Technologies calling it home.

Before anything gets scheduled, there’s a conversation. What do you need these portraits for? What’s the vibe you’re going for—corporate and polished, or something more relaxed? Where will these images be used? That context shapes everything.
Once you’re booked, you’ll either come to the studio or we’ll shoot on-location, depending on what makes sense for your situation. During the session, you’re not left guessing. We direct posing, adjust lighting in real time, and make sure you’re comfortable. Most people are surprised how quickly they relax once the session starts.
After the shoot, images are edited and delivered based on the timeline discussed upfront. You get high-resolution files ready to use however you need them. No surprise fees. No endless back-and-forth. Just clean, professional images that do what they’re supposed to do.

Every portrait session includes professional lighting setup, whether in-studio or on-location. You’re not working with natural light and hoping for the best—this is controlled, intentional lighting that makes you look like a professional.
You also get direction. We’re not the type to say “just act natural” and leave you hanging. We’ll guide your posture, adjust your angle, and tell you exactly what to do with your hands. That’s the difference between awkward photos and images that actually work.
Sheldon’s business community has specific needs. If you’re working in industrial, corporate, or technical fields, your headshot needs to communicate competence and approachability. If you’re building a personal brand, your portraits need to reflect your personality without looking like a selfie. We’ve worked with both, and the approach adjusts depending on who you are and what you’re trying to say.
You’ll receive fully edited, high-resolution digital files. These aren’t raw images you have to figure out how to edit yourself. They’re ready to upload, print, or send to your marketing team the moment you get them.
Wear what you’d wear to an important meeting in your industry. If you’re in a corporate environment, that probably means a suit or business attire. If your work culture is more casual, a clean button-up or blouse works.
Avoid busy patterns, logos, or anything that will distract from your face. Solid colors photograph better and keep the focus where it should be. If you’re unsure, bring a couple of options and we can help you decide what works best under the lights.
Also, make sure your clothes fit well. Portraits highlight everything, and something that’s too tight or too loose will show. You want to look polished, not like you’re wearing someone else’s clothes.
Most headshot sessions take 30 to 45 minutes. That includes time to adjust lighting, try a few different looks or backgrounds, and make sure you’re getting variety in your expressions and angles.
If you’re doing a more extensive portrait session—maybe multiple outfit changes or different setups—it could run closer to an hour or 90 minutes. We’ll give you a time estimate when you book based on what you’re looking for.
The goal isn’t to rush you through. It’s to get the shots you need without dragging it out longer than necessary. You’re busy. This process respects that.
Both. Some clients prefer the controlled environment of a studio—consistent lighting, clean backgrounds, no distractions. Others need portraits shot at their office, job site, or another location that makes sense for their brand.
On-location shoots take a bit more setup, but they’re absolutely doable. We bring the lighting and equipment needed to make it work. If your brand is tied to a specific place—your office, a facility, or even an outdoor setting—that context can make the portrait stronger.
The decision usually comes down to what you’re using the images for and what environment best represents you. If you’re not sure, that’s part of the conversation before the session gets scheduled.
Turnaround is typically one to two weeks, depending on the scope of the session and how many images need editing. You’re not waiting a month to see your photos.
We edit every image before delivery. That means color correction, retouching, and making sure everything is polished and ready to use. You’re not getting a dump of raw files and a “good luck” message.
If you have a specific deadline—maybe you’re launching a new website or need headshots for an upcoming event—mention that upfront. In most cases, rush delivery can be accommodated if the timeline is tight.

A straightforward headshot session is going to cost less than a full brand portrait shoot with multiple setups and outfits. The best way to get an accurate price is to reach out and describe what you’re looking for.
What you’re paying for is 40+ years of experience, professional equipment, expert editing, and images that actually work for your business.
